Built by Design is a family-owned custom home building company with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. Over 50 years ago, Dave Peterson Sr. built his own home in Everett, Washington, and neighbors were so impressed that they asked him to build homes for them. This started his company Peterson Custom Homes. Driven by a passion for craftsmanship and a commitment to honesty, he set out to provide families with high-quality, custom-built homes—far removed from the mass-produced tract homes that were becoming common at the time.

Teaching his son, Dave Jr., the importance of trust, integrity, and careful stewardship of client investments, the younger Dave carried forward this family legacy. In 1998, he founded Built by Design, bringing the same dedication to excellence, precision, and client care to every project. Today, Built by Design continues to deliver exceptional new construction, remodeling, and site preparation services throughout Snohomish County, including Everett, Lynnwood, Marysville, and surrounding areas.
